The understanding and identification of Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism + Attention Deficit Disorder, and Autism is rapidly evolving. What is considered neurodivergence today was called something else in the past (being weird, introverted, overly sensitive, hyper, chatty, day-dreaming, “too much") - or not called anything at all. There is a generation of people who grew up knowing they were different somehow but not having language to describe or understand what was going on.

They learned to mask their difficulties and found ways to survive but the cost was high - fatigue, confusion, anxiety, depression, exhaustion, overwhelm, addiction, and eventual burnout.

Getting a diagnosis can be helpful but it’s only the first step in learning how to manage a brain that needs different things to thrive. If you are high-masking or late-diagnosed then you likely were never taught how to work with your brain instead of against it. Along with the diagnosis comes the responsibility of learning how to make accommodations for your needs so that you can shift out of survival mode. Society also needs to change to make accommodations for your neurotype (separate but important issue that we should all be advocating for) but for the moment let’s focus on the individual level - YOU.

I help late-diagnosed and high-masking neurospicy clients craft a life that honors their sensory and energy needs. One that allows them to move past the all-or-nothing approaches that may have defined their past. A life that feels balanced and sustainable. A life that allows for joy.
